…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
The celebration of Pentecost is the praise of the Church before the Lord for the coming of the blessed Holy Spirit. Our Savior, Christ Jesus taught, “…I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you” (John 16:7, ESV). As the people of God, we have given thanks before God for the ascension of Jesus to heaven, and in the same word of joy we give a shout of praise for the coming of the Holy Spirit and the promised return of our Lord Jesus (Acts 1:11).
Chairman Simeon Strauser speaks of the urgency that all God’s people to be anointed and baptized with the Holy Spirit – to be empowered by the Spirit for the calling of God upon their lives.
