Good day Church,
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus. The beautiful painting depicting our Lord Jesus which I share with you today is by artist Greg Olson. This representation speaks to us of the words of our Lord which he spoke forth concerning the spiritual condition of the Church of Laodicea which he described within the Revelation message. There we read (Chap. 3) of the spiritual condition of the Laodicean church as that of being neither hot nor cold. They are in a condition that Jesus describes as lukewarm, which he finds to be undesirable. Their richness in worldly goods, their vanity and their pride have fostered this state of arrogance. Jesus finds this people, the Church of Laodicea, to be ignorant, blinded in their depravity. He points this out to them with, you are “not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (vs18-20, 22)
Likewise, the word of our Lord is calling you, His church, today. I can see His word calling us to not have our spiritual eyes be blinded by the things of this world, but let us be reminded that as his true followers, in Him, our every need is met. In Him we are complete! Let your eyes be open to the saving grace of Christ Jesus, the work of the Spirit of God, and the truth of His Gospel. Be reminded today that you are rich in Him (Psalm 1:1-4). May we receive of our Lord today, opening the door as we hear his voice calling. Let us eat and sup with Him. May you be His church today, hot, seeking to glorify Him in every way! As you go to Him with an open heart…you shall be strengthened in his righteousness, saying “ I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness” (Isaiah 61:10a).
Lord bless and keep you,
Pastor Simeon Strauser
